Coaching

Sometimes a standard 'classroom' course isn't the best option for every individual or group. Often we find our tailored coaching sessions are the best answer.

Coaching may be the preferred option for:

  • staff with particular needs who need more focused, one-to-one support
  • senior staff who cannot spare the time away from the office
  • specialised staff where there are not the numbers to warrant a specially designed course
  • staff who may find it difficult to attend a classroom event (for example, people with a disability).

The format of these sessions will vary, but they are likely to rely heavily on using existing examples of people's written work.

Our hour-long, one-to-one sessions are very popular. About two weeks before the event, we review samples of the delegates' work. Then our consultant will spend an hour with each person giving them constructive feedback on their writing. In a typical day we can coach up to six people.

Coaching does not have to be face to face. It can be carried out over the phone, by email or both. For example, we could edit a Word document using the ‘track changes’ facility, return the document and then talk the writer through the changes by phone.

Nor does coaching always have to be one to one. We have run successful ‘coaching days’ for groups of up to six people, where the delegates appraised each other’s writing, guided by our tutor, who also added comments and advice for each person.

Please contact us to discuss your needs in more detail.
